Current Projects

VSWIR-PLANTS Database

Ecosystem function

Ongoing cross-center NASA initiative between JPL and GSFC compiling paired airborne spectra and plant functional trait measurements from field campaigns into a standardized database with associated metadata and uncertainty characterization.

NASA Sea Level Change Team

Cryosphere / Earth's Ice Cover

Developing calibration approaches to improve uncertainty quantification in projections of future mass change of ice sheets and glaciers.

Atmospheric Uncertainty Characterization for TIR Missions

Radiative Transfer

Leveraging GMAO’s Goddard Earth Observing System Forward Processing (GEOS-FP) atmospheric ensembles for better atmospheric uncertainty characterization for land surface temperature retrievals for TIR missions.

Flash Droughts

Hydrology / Water Cycle

Enhancing flash drought prediction by improving process representation, parameterization, and data assimilation within the land surface model Noah-MP in LIS. Focused on targeted improvements in incorporating plant hydraulics in Noah-MP and assimilating vegetation related hyperspectral indices from PACE.
