Brief Bio


Dr. Robert Leamon (Bob; he/him/his) is an Associate Research Scientist at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and works at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. The over-arching theme of his research has been the study of magnetic fields, from on the smallest scales of interplanetary turbulence, to planetary magnetospheres and solar phenomena including CMEs and heating the corona. His current research focuses on solar cycle evolution, space weather prediction, and the sun-climate connection.

Prior to joining GSFC in his current role in 2016, he served on an IPA assignment to the Heliophysics Division, NASA HQ, Washington DC from Montana State University. A native of Wales, UK, he received his undergraduate education from Imperial College London and the Université de Paris-Sud, and was awarded his Ph.D. by the University of Delaware in 2000.
