Selected Public Outreach

Asia Pacific Commemoration of the 3rd International Day of Clean Air for blue skies

October 2022 - October 2022

Sujung Go (613/UMBC) participated as a panelist in “Asia Pacific Commemoration of the 3rd International Day of Clean Air for blue skies” on September 7, 2022. She described the transboundary air pollution monitoring capabilities from current and future Geo and Leo satellites and planned field campaigns as an opportunity to strengthen multilateral cooperation

NASA ARSET online training titled "Accessing and Analyzing Air Quality Data from Geostationary Satellites"

November 2022 - November 2022

On October 25, NASA Applied Sciences’ ARSET program completed a three-part, online training on "Accessing and Analyzing Air Quality Data from Geostationary Satellites". This intermediate-level training, offered in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Institute Of Environmental Research (NIER, South Korea), provided an overview of geostationary capabilities for monitoring air quality around the world, introduced geostationary aerosol datasets from GOES-East, GOES-West, Himawari 8, and the Geostationary Environment Monitoring Spectrometer (GEMS), and presented data access and python tools to read and analyze the datasets. The training reached 860 participants from ~425 unique organizations across 102 countries and 38 U.S. States.
