Rebekah Hounsell

I am an Associate Research Scientist with UMBC at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, specializing in time-domain astronomy, survey optimization, and software pipelines for large astronomical surveys. I serve as Co-PI and Project Manager for the Roman Supernova Cosmology Project Infrastructure Team — leading 60+ researchers in developing an end-to-end pixel-to-cosmology data pipeline for the High Latitude Time Domain Survey. Additionally, I am the Associate Project Scientist for the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) — developing community-accessible tools, working on mission critical tasks, and engaging in public outreach.

My technical expertise spans ground- and space-based data processing, multivariate PSF modeling, image subtraction, alignment software, and rigorous uncertainty quantification. I actively publish in peer-reviewed journals, present at international conferences, and am deeply committed to public engagement through partnerships with academia, the private sector, and public outreach organizations.
