Brief Bio

Naoma McCall (she/her) joined 698 full-time after completing a NASA Pathways internship and her PhD at the University of Texas at Austin. After taking lower division courses through the Peralta Community Colleges, she received her Bachelor of Science in Geology and a California Teaching Credential for Physics and Earth Science from University of California, Davis.

Naoma's research uses seismic reflection, core samples, and other geophysical methods to study impact craters, habitability, and planetary analogs. Her PhD focuses on the impact cratering process at the Chicxulub and Ries impact craters and the post impact hydrothermal system at Chicxulub. At NASA, Naoma is part of GEODES (Geophysical Exploration of the Dynamics and Evolution of the Solar System), her research is using seismic reflection to detect lava tubes, a technique that could one day be used by astronauts on the Moon.
