    Lan Jian works in the Heliospheric Physics Laboratory (Code 672) at NASA/GSFC. Her research topics include solar and solar wind activities, pariticle acceleration and wave-particle interaction, solar-terrestrial relation, space weather prediction, outer heliosphere and local interstellar medium. She has worked on the analysis and interpretation of various solar wind structures, from macroscale to microscale. She has done extensive validation for solar wind prediction from multiple coronal and heliospheric models. She has processed and calibrated magnetometer data for NASA missions. She is a Co-Investigator for the Voyager mission and also supports the Space Physcis Data Facility (SPDF) with a special focus on SPDF's new mission and other project interactions.  

    Lan Jian has published 93 papers (most listed at https://publons.com/researcher/2842626/lan-k-jian/; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6849-5527, and https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=0lfTCzwAAAAJ&hl=en&oi=ao), 21 as the first author, 15 as the second author. She has given more than 148 first-authored presentations in meetings, including 25 invited talks. She has given more than 20 seminars at multiple universities and institutes.

    Macroscale structures in the solar wind, including interplanetary coronal mass ejections, fast-slow stream interactions, shocks, heliospheric current sheets and plasma sheets


    Microscale structures in the solar wind, including ion cyclotron waves, magnetosonic/whistler waves, mirror mode waves, etc., and their interaction with solar wind particles


    Solar cycle variation of solar activity and solar wind structures


    Coronal and heliospheric models, space weather prediction


    Voyager magnetometer data processing, studies of outer heliosphere and interstellar medium
