Dr. Shiblee Ratan Barua is a NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) Fellow at the Planetary Systems Lab (693) in the Solar Systems Exploration Division (690). His expertise is in Computational Quantum Chemistry and Theoretical Astrochemistry. He is currently investigating chemical reaction kinetics in low-temperature environments such as Titan, cool rocky exoplanets, interstellar clouds, etc.

Brief Bio
Research Interests
Calculation of high-level ab initio rate coefficients for key neutral–neutral reactions occurring in very low-temperature conditions
Earth Science: Atmospheric ChemistryDr. Barua is currently investigating how fast (or slow) photochemical reactions take place in the upper atmosphere of planetary bodies like Titan and cool rocky exoplanets. A detailed understanding of these photochemical reactions will enable modelers to develop accurate numerical models that correctly predict the percentage composition of gases in low-temperature planetary environments.
