Brief Bio


Dr. García received a BS in physics from La Universidad del Zulia and an MS in physics from the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research, both in Venezuela. In 2010 he received his PhD in physics from the Catholic University of America (CUA) working with Dr. Timothy Kallman from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He moved to complete Postdoctoral studies at the University of Maryland and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, and the California Institute of Technology. In 2019 he was appointed Research Assistant Professor at Caltech in 2019. Dr. García was also a Senior Alexander von Humboldt Fellow during 2016-2021, working at the Dr. Karl-Remeis Observatory in Bamberg, Germany. In May 2022 Dr García joined the X-ray Astrophysics Lab at Goddard. Dr. García is a member of the science teams for NuSTAR and the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE), and currently serves as the Project Scientist of the probe-class mission concept HEX-P.
