Brief Bio


Ahreum Lee specializes in satellite meteorology, with extensive research focusing on the assimilation of hyperspectral infrared radiances, radiative transfer modeling, and cloud parameter retrievals. Her recent research at NASA GMAO has been focused on the assimilation of VIIRS observations to improve Sea Surface Temperature (SST) analysis, the improvement of infrared cloud detection methods, and the assimilation of future hyperspectral infrared sounders in GEOS. Previously, she spent several years advancing the Korean Integrated Model (KIM) through hyperspectral infrared channel selection, Variational Bias Correction (VarBC), and quality control using 1D-Var methods.
