Brief Bio
Vanessa originally joined the Gravitational Astrophysics Laboratory as an intern during the summer of 2020 and has now returned as a Postbac research scientist. Vanessa began her journey in space exploration as a L’SPACE Academy student during her undergrad in Applied Mathematics at the University of Vermont. This then led to her summer 2019 internship as a software developer with KinetX Aerospace, Inc. on their Optical Navigation team for the Lucy mission. Following this internship, Vanessa wrote her undergraduate senior thesis on the stability of the L4 and L5 Lagrange Points with an explanation of Jupiter’s Trojan asteroid’s orbital path. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics, Vanessa is now continuing her education at the University of Vermont and is currently working towards a Master’s degree in Complex Systems and Data Science. She is writing her Master’s thesis on Resonant Trojan EMRIs with LISA in collaboration with her Postbac position. Vanessa’s education has lead to a great interest in modeling and simulating complex systems, chaos, and dynamics related to space systems.
