Overview
The 610 Atmospheres (610AT) laboratories are dedicated to advancing knowledge of the Earth’s atmosphere, with an emphasis on mesoscale meteorology, precipitation, atmospheric chemistry, aerosols and clouds, and radiative transfer, along with related climate studies. 610AT scientists conduct basic and applied research using observations (laboratory, airborne, satellite, ground-based) and computer models. We play an active role in developing new and improved instruments for satellite and sub-orbital missions and projects, including algorithm development and production of geophysical datasets from those observations. Our model development includes stratospheric and tropospheric trace case chemistry models, cloud resolving models, and radiative transfer models for both radiation budget and remote sensing uses. Communicating our results and capabilities to the science community and public is an essential aspect of our work.
