Brief Bio

Dr. Deirdre Wendel received her BS in physics at Columbia University in the City of New York and her PhD in physics from Rice University. After receiving a masters degree in physics and geophysics from the University of California, she worked for 5 years in the defense industry as an engineer and scientist. After completing her doctorate in physics at Rice University in 2009 under the mentorship of Professor Patricia Reiff, she joined GSFC as a civil servant. She pursues research in magnetic reconnection, geospace magnetospheric convection, solar wind heating, and coupling of the Earth's magnetospehre and ionosphere.
