Barbara Thompson graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1996 with a degree in physics. Her thesis was on numerical modeling of Alfvenic impulses in the inner magnetosphere. She came to GSFC in 1996 to work on the SOHO project, and joined the Solar Physics Branch (Code 682) in 1998. Since then, she has been involved primarily in the operations and development of several solar satellite and rocket programs.
