NAOsat: a CubeSat platform for Technology Demonstration and Science Missions

Dr. Francisco J. Garcia de Quiros, Embedded Instruments and Systems S. L. (EMXYS), Spain

The Cubesat platform has become a "de-facto" standard for technology and scientific research missions in LEO due to its low design complexity and low operation costs. EMXYS has designed a modular scalable Cubesat architecture (NAOsat) to enable shorter payload design and integration cycles. The NAOsat platform has been chosen by the Universidad Politcnica de Valencia (Spain) for its first satellite mission Politech.1. The purpose of my talk is to present potential cooperation opportunities between GSFC and EMXYS through different frameworks, considering the specific advantages of low-cost platforms (like Cubesat). In this case, UPV provides the opportunity. But I would like to open the door to cooperate in other programs or with different partners. I present the first such mission in depth as an example.
