Silke Asche is a chemist interested in understanding the functions necessary for life’s emergence and how to detect it. She is developing methods for ‘agnostic biosignatures’ using mass spectrometry as there is currently no unified framework to detect life as we don’t know it, neither for life found elsewhere nor in the laboratory. Silke has a background in Origins of Life research and chemistry laboratory automation and is a founder of the ECR network OoLEN (oolen.org).
