Venkata Shashank Konduri

  • Post-Doctoral Associate
  • NASA/GSFC
  • Employer: UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND
  • Brief Bio

Venkata Shashank (Shashi) Konduri is an ESSIC/UMD Post-Doctoral Associate at NASA GSFC Biospheric Sciences Lab. Shashi did his PhD in interdisciplinary engineering at Northeastern University, Boston. For his dissertation work, he used data sourced from remote sensing platforms and ground-based observation networks, along with machine learning methods to a) characterize and map diverse vegetation types from landscape to continental scales and b) identify the environmental drivers of vegetation distribution and productivity. At NASA GSFC, he is collaborating with scientists on the ICESat-2 mission to investigate changes in savanna vegetation structure and savanna fire regimes using time series of satellite-derived burned area and spaceborne lidar data.
