    Dr. Ping Zhang received her B.S. and M.S. degree in Urban and Environment Science from Peking University (China) and her Ph.D. in Department of Earth and Environment at Boston University. Dr. Zhang’s Ph.D. research centers on large-scale vegetation dynamics and their interactions with the climate system and its variations.
    Dr. Zhang started to work as a contract research scientist at Biosphere Science Laboratory at NASA GSFC from 2007. She uses remotely-sensed land surface temperature and impervious surface area to assess the urban heat island (UHI) amplitude and its relationship to intensity and surrounding ecological setting over the cities at regional to global scales.
