X-Ray Optics, Cosmic Rays, X- and Gamma-rays from Supernovae

    Brief Bio

Dr. Chan is a specialist in lightweight x-ray optics. He was an XRT (X-ray Telescope) scientist for the Japan-U.S. mission Suzaku and served as the U.S. Technical Representative of Suzaku XRT. Prior to his role in Suzaku, he was a member of the mirror team which developed the XRTs for the original Astro-E and also InFOCS, a balloon experiment which was first to demonstrate observation of the high x-ray sky with multilayer mirrors. Dr. Chan’s other projects include the development of large x-ray mirror assembly for the proposal concepts Constellation-X and the International X-ray Observatory. Dr. Chan’s scientific interests includes high energy emissions from supernova and cosmic rays.
