    Dr. Rodriguez has been involved in the modeling of anthropogenic perturbations to the atmosphere for the past 30 years. He has been guest investigator under the Pioneer Venus Program, and the Solar Mesospheric Explorer program. He has also been Principal Investigator in numerous projects involving modeling support of aircraft campaigns, both in the stratosphere (AAOE, STRAT, ASHOE/MAESA, POLARIS) and in the troposphere (Global Tropospheric Experiment, PEM –West A, West B, Tropics A and Tropics B; ARCTAS). Dr. Rodriguez has been a member of NASA’s Earth System Science and Applications Advisory Committee (ESSAAC). He also has been Editor for Atmospheric Sciences for Geophysical Research Letters, and served in the NRC Committee on Atmospheric Chemistry, co-authoring the report cited below. Dr. Rodriguez has been involved in several assessments efforts, including the WMO/Ozone Assessment and Supersonic Aircraft Impact Assessment.  Dr. Rodriguez has served as Project Scientist for the Global Modeling Initiative (GMI) since its inception in 1994. This effort has now integrated a three-dimensional chemical transport model (CTM) that includes both tropospheric and stratospheric chemistry and dynamics. Aerosols and tagged tracers are also a capability developed by this model. As Project Scientist for the GMI, Dr. Rodriguez has also been Head of the Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics Laboratory at NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center since September 2006. In that capacity, he interacts closely with members of the AURA and other A-train instruments.

    Teaching Experience

    Member of Thesis Committee for Luca D’Ottone and Margaret Williams, 1998-present. Luca D’Ottone is a graduate student at MAC under Dr. A. Hynes. The research topic is the quantum yield of ozone to produce O(1D) at long wavelengths. Margaret Williams is a graduate student at MAC under Dr. A. Hynes. Her research topic explores kinetic measurements of degradation of dimethyl sulfide.
