    Joel Scott, Deputy Applications Coordinator for the NASA Plankton, Aerosol, Climate, and Ecosystem (PACE) mission, advocates for the use of scientific knowledge to advance society and to enhance decision-making. Joel has been investigating the global oceans for NASA via satellite remote sensing for over a decade, working as a data scientist studying the ocean’s physical and biogeochemical properties from space. Joel holds MS and BS degrees in Meteorology and Mathematics with a specialization in air-sea interaction and remote sensing. Joel authors peer-reviewed literature, mentors students, supports NASA science teams, and hosts scientific workshops, while advocating for Open Science principles and making Earth Science accessible to all.
