Jacob Bleacher is currently serving as GSFC's Lead Exploration Scientist. In this role he is working to bring coherency and cross-Center awareness to the many Human Exploration-relevant science efforts at Goddard and to help develop external collaborations related to Goddard's science capabilities.

Jacob's research focuses on comparing the development of volcanic provinces on the Earth, Moon, Mars and asteroids and understanding their subsequent modification through a combination of terrestrial field studies and spacecraft data analysis. His current research combines field work, geomorphology, volcanology, planetary geology, and remote sensing. He also combines his expertise in field and planetary geology to test the science capabilities of NASA’s newest instrument, suit and rover technologies via collaborations with other NASA Centers and academia.

Jacob is currently on detail to NASA HQ as the Chief Exploration Scientist for HEOMD Advanced Exploration Systems.
