  • Brief Bio

    Ms. Hualan Rui is currently is a task lead and working in Hydrology Team NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC). With her science background and experiences in GrADAS, GDS, GRIB data format, and data visualization and analysis, she provides end-to-end services for data products of Global Land Data Assimilation System (GLDAS), North-American Land Data Assimilation Systems (NLDAS), and other hydrological data. She is also playing a key role in integrating NASA Hydrological data into user community tools, such as EPA BASINS, CUAHSI HIS, and etc., for better data accessibility and usability.

    Since 1997, she has been a member of the GES DISC, where she led the TRMM Science Data Support Team, which provided end-to-end, value-added support for TRMM and other precipitation data sets.  She was one of the key developers of the original TRMM Online Visualization and Analysis System (TOVAS), which has since evolved into the Giovanni Project.  From 2003 to 2009, Ms. Rui has been leading the Giovanni Project for over six years and successfully extended Giovanni visualization and analysis capabilities to MODIS, AIRS, OMI, MLS, SeaWIFS, A-Train, and many other data sets.
