Dr. Dongchul Kim received a Ph.D. and MS in Atmospheric Chemistry (2004 and 2001) from the University of Nevada Reno/Desert Research Institute, Reno, NV, and a BS in Atmospheric Science (1998) from the Pukyong National University, Busan, Korea. After graduation he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Science at MIT where he developed a multi-mode multi-moment aerosol model online coupled with NCAR CAM. In 2008, he served as a research scientist at NOAA/NCEP for two years. In 2010, he joined GEST/UMBC, and in May 2011 joined GESTAR/USRA as an assistant research scientist.

    Research Interests

    Aerosol modeling

His main research interest is to investigate global and regional atmospheric composition and distribution using numerical modeling and observation data. His current research interests are to study aerosol optical property, long range transport, aerosol impact to climate using global and regional scale models and observation data.
