Brief Bio

Dr. D. Lario is a research astrophysicist at the Heliophysics Laboratory of the Heliophysics Division. He received his Bachelor’s of Science in Physics (Honors) from the University of Barcelona in 1991 and his PhD in Astrophysics from University of Barcelona in 1997, followed by a Research Fellow position at the Solar System Division of the European Space Agency (ESA). From January 2000 until February 2019, he was first a research scientist and later a staff scientist, and a principal staff scientist at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He joined the Heliophysics Laboratory (Code 672) at NASA/ Goddard Space Flight Center in March 2019. His primary research interests include analysis and numerical modeling of dynamic heliospheric phenomena, including the study of the energetic particle environment, and the processes of solar energetic particle acceleration and transport. He is also the deputy mission scientist of the Parker Solar Probe (PSP) mission and the NASA deputy project scientist of the ESA/NASA Solar Orbiter mission.
