Brief Bio

Dr. Hyokyung Kim(Lee) has been participating in the international satellite mission between NASA and JAXA, entitled the Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM). She works as a member of the science team developing algorithms for estimating global precipitation using dual frequency radar onboard the GPM satellite.

Before 2009, she worked as a civil servant at the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), conducting research on precipitation estimation and developing weather forecasting models using weather radar data.

Dr. Kim received her B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in atmospheric science at Pukyong National University, Busan, South Korea.
