Community Coordinated Modeling Center
Advancing space weather research and operations through collaborative modeling, simulation, and validation
Explore Our ServicesOur Mission
The Community Coordinated Modeling Center (CCMC), established in 2000, is a multi-agency collaborative initiative that fosters research and development for space weather models. By connecting innovative research with operational forecasting, CCMC safeguards technology and human life both in space and on Earth.
What We Do
The CCMC serves as a focal point for the space weather modeling community, providing essential services that benefit researchers, forecasters, and mission operators.
Research Support
We facilitate space science research by providing access to over 100 state-of-the-art models and simulation capabilities that allow researchers to test hypotheses and compare model predictions with observations.
Operations Transition
We support the transition of research advances to operational space weather forecasting through rigorous validation, collaborative environments, and partnerships with operational centers like NOAA SWPC.
Community Validation
We lead community-wide validation campaigns to systematically evaluate model performance, establish standards, and identify areas for improvement in forecasting capabilities.
Comprehensive Model Portfolio
CCMC hosts an extensive collection of models covering the entire Sun-Earth system, from the solar corona to Earth's upper atmosphere.
Our Key Services & Tools
CCMC develops and maintains specialized software platforms that serve both the research and operational communities.
