Brief Bio

After completing an SB in Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. McPeters did his PhD work at the University of Florida. Working for Dr. A. E.S. Green, he studied light scattering in the atmosphere. This background led in 1976 to a position at Goddard Space Flight Center working on the retrieval of ozone from the BUV experiment on Nimbus 4.

Current Projects

Satellite projects:

Dr. McPeters leads a group working to derive ozone from the OMPS nadir mapper and the nadir profiler on the Suomi NPP satellite. He is the deputy US team leader for Aura OMI, focusing on validation issues. He is also working to create a long term multi-instrument time series for total column ozone and ozone profiles.
