Brief Bio

Dr. Alexander Cede has made his PhD at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, based on work on ground-based ozone and ultraviolet measurements in Argentina from 1997 to 2001. Since 2002 he is member of the Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics Laboratory. His specialty is the design, calibration and data correction of remote sensing instrumentation, as well as developing algorithms to retrieve column amounts of atmospheric trace gases from remote sensing measurements.

He is co-inventor of the Pandora spectrometer system, a ground-based instrument used for air quality monitoring and validation of satellite retrieved trace gas amounts. As such, he is the technical lead of the joint NASA-ESA network “Pandonia”, where he is responsible for instrument design, operation and processing software, calibration, and algorithm development.

Alexander Cede is also the PI of NASA-project “Enhancements and maintenance of EPIC Level 1 calibration” and similar follow up projects. EPIC is the Earth Polychromatic Imaging Camera on board of the Deep Space Climate Observatory in space at the Lagrangian 1 point. He has written the software to convert the EPIC raw data into level 1 data.
