Brief Bio

Dr. Thompson has devoted the majority of their solar research to the study of coronal mass ejections and the dynamics of coronal structures. The majority of their refereed publications involve either CMEs or eruption-associated phenomena, such as dimmings and EUV waves. Their research efforts focus on understanding the dynamics of the solar corona and image processing/analysis efforts to examine eruptive structures, and the application of machine learning and advance mathematical methods to problem-solving.

Dr. Thompson is part of the leadership team for the Center for HelioAnalytics, a Community of Practice to envision solutions using machine learning, knowledge capture, and data analytics to expand the discovery potential for key heliophysics research topics and missions.  https://helioanalytics.io/
