    Research

X-ray and multi-wavelength studies of magnetic cataclysmic variables (intermediate polars in particular) and other interacting binaries.

    Projects

High resolution X-ray spectroscopy of magnetic CVs with Chandra/HETG, and medium resolution X-ray spectroscopy of fainter magnetic CVs using XMM-Newton (led by Domitilla de Martino) and Suzaku

X-ray eclipses of non-magnetic CVs (including the Suzaku observation of V893 Sco)

X-ray luminosity function of dwarf novae (the dominant subtype of non-magnetic CVs) and their contributions to the Galactic Ridge

Studies of hard X-ray symbiotic stars detected in the Swift/BAT survey

    Education

    1983 - Rigakushi (B.Sc.), University of Tokyo.

1986 - D.Phil. University of Oxford (Thesis:"Spectroscopic Studies of AM Her Type Systems")
