    Global and Regional Water and Energy Cycles

    Water is the key ingredient for life, and energy is what drives weather, climate and change. Observing and modeling these processes have improved greatly in recent decade, New observations, their assimilation in reanalyses and improved models will contribute to attaining further improvements.

    National Climate Assessment

    Reanalyses have become a key role for the GMAO. These data are likewise well used in the research community. They also have numerous potential benefits for  end users, such as resource managers and decision makers. With the US emphasis on sustained development of a National Climate Assessment, we aim to provide support to a broad range of the community regarding use of reanalyses in US climate assessment.

    Current Projects

    NEWS Regional Water Cycle Study

    Evaluate and explain the MERRA reanalysis representaiton of hte US regiona lwater cycle. With more understanding, apply to regions with minimal observations, such as Africa (in collaboration with SERVIR).

    Reanalysis Synthesis of EOS Observations to support the National Climate Assessment

    Collaborate with NCA to bring new diagnostics, enhanced diagnostics and reanalyses data to bear on issues relating to the ongoing National Climate Assessment.

    I gained interest in the weather from a 9th grade Earth science class. While studying meteorology in college, became pasionate about numerical prediction which applies computers and code to emulate the weather. Now I work with reanalyses which attempts to bring out the best of models and observations of weather and climate. I aim to learn about the interactions of the Earth system through observations and models.
