NASA/GSFC's Paul Newman, Randal Koster and Michael Hesse have been named fellows of tthe American Geophysical Union for their work in Earth and space science. Newman, an atmospheric physicist in the Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics Branch, was awarded the honor for his long-term contributions to atmospheric science. Hesse is the Chief of the Space Weather Laboratory and was elected for his long-term contribution to magnetospheric physics. Koster of the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office was nominated for long-term research in hydrological modeling.

Anne Douglass and William Lau were honored as Fellows of the American Geophysical Union at the AGU Honors Ceremony held in conjunction with the AGU Joint Assembly in May 2007. Douglass's citations read "for significantly advancing the science of three-dimensional chemical modeling through the use of satellite and ground-based data", and Lau's read "for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of understanding of the monsoon climate system through original and masterful data analysis and modeling".
