Title: X-ray surveys of distant groups and clusters of galaxies

Abstract: During the XMM-Newton and Chandra era, a great number of deep surveys has been conducted, primarily to study X-ray activity of the black holes. We have been pursuing detection and identification of the extended X-ray emission in these data, which to date resulted in a database of a thousand X-ray detected groups and clusters of galaxies. Uniqueness of our studies consists in the rich multiwavelength data, not typical to other cluster catalogs. These data allowed us to compare various ways of determination of scaling relations, and to progress our understanding of the role of environment in galaxy evolution.
