LET'S GO Boys and Girls, a program to engage underserved students in science, math, and engineering

Dr. Margie Shea-Moore

Abstract: LET’S GO Boys and Girls, Inc. is a nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation with a missionto enable out-of-school organizations, especially those that focus on the underserved, to deliver fun, hand-on STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education activities to grow the number of students entering technical career pathways. LET’S GO was incorporated in 2010 and is now working with 9 partners in the Annapolis, Baltimore and Washington DC area, and is serving over 1500 students. Our partners include Boys and Girls Clubs, Charter Schools, Y organizations and school systems. Using a business-like approach, STEM curricula are delivered and data are collected to permit the development of a student tracking system quantifying the number of students that participate in the LET’S GO activities and move through the STEM pipeline with the goal of entering the country’s STEM pipeline.

Dr. Margie Shea-Moore, a native Canadian, earned her Master’s and PhD degrees at the University of Maryland, College Park. After experience in academia and the scientific business world, Dr. Shea-Moore found her passion working with social entrepreneurs and providing the scientific and operational support to make these organizations successful.
