Overview

The Software Systems Support Office (SSSO) provides software engineering and performance optimization services. We provide these services primarily to scientific modelers and users of high performance computing systems at the NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) at Goddard Space Flight Center and the Advanced Supercomputing Center at NASA Ames Research Center.

SSSO's software engineering expertise includes design, reengineering, unit-testing, and standardization of scientific software. SSSO also supports scientific modelers in the use and adoption of community frameworks such as the Earth System Modeling Framework (ESMF) to promote interoperability and portability. In the area of high performance computing, SSSO’s competencies include parallelization, data-intensive computing & analysis, and advanced numerical algorithms.

SSSO provides custom software engineering and high-performance computing support to NASA-funded researchers. Current clients include the Goddard Institute of Space Studies (GISS), the NASA Unified Weather Research and Forecasting (NU-WRF) project, the Global Modeling Initiative (GMI), the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO), and NASA's Modeling, Analysis and Prediction (MAP) program.
