Wednesday June 2
9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The Sciences and Exploration Directorate Science Jamboree is coming June 2. The Directorate's laboratories, branches, and offices will show off their science to the entire Goddard Space Flight Center community.

The Jamboree will take place under tents on the Mall in front of Building 8. Panel discussions in the Building 8 auditorium featuring some of the Center's finest scientists. At 2 p.m., panelists will discuss extreme space weather. A discussion of global climate change follows at 3 p.m.

Highlights of the Jamboree include:
  • Live science experiments, show-and-tell, and displays.
  • Science Cafe seating area for chatting with colleagues, old and new.
  • Cajun lunch available for purchase; free afternoon refreshments.
Prizes will be awarded in three categories:
  • Best use of Mardi Gras Theme
  • Coolest Demonstration
  • Most Visually Appealing Display
This is a chance to meet people in other directorates, learn about their work, and cross-pollinate ideas for interdisciplinary research. It's also a unique learning opportunity for your summer interns and newly arrived scientists.

This year's Cajun theme — including Zydeco music, a Cajun lunch, and Mardi Gras beads — will make the day festive as well as informative. Please save the date and participate in Science Jamboree 2010.
